CCAI provides home study services and is a licensed child placement domestic adoption agency in Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Wyoming, and Texas. We can provide adoptive families residing in these five states with home study and post-placement services needed to adopt a child domestically.

A home study is a written evaluation of each potential adoptive family prior to the placement of a child in the home. If you choose CCAI as your home study agency, we will also be your post placement agency.

Once your adoption has been finalized and your child is home, adoption regulations require the completion of regularly scheduled post placement visits and written reports by a licensed adoption agency. During post placement visits, it is CCAI’s goal to offer you continued support and guidance as you transition your child into your family.
Post Placement Services include:
A designated adoption recognizes the special relationship between adoptive and birth parents. The adoptive family and birth parents may have been brought together through a network of friends or family members, or through a licensed child placement agency. Regardless of the circumstances, the birth parents have formally signified their willingness for the adoptive family to parent their child.
ICPC is the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children, which is an agreement that controls the lawful movement of children from one state to another for purposes of adoption. If your child is born in another state, you must have an ICPC in place before you can leave that state to return home.
If your family resides in Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Texas or Wyoming and you are adopting a child that is being born or currently resides outside of your home state, you will be required to complete important paperwork for the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children in order to bring your child home.
CCAI offers assistance towards the completion of your required ICPC packet, thus ensuring the accuracy of every required document. Our years of experience will help minimize errors, thus ensuring that you and your child can come home as quickly as possible!
Kinship adoption is an adoption where the prospective adoptive parents are related to the child. It allows a relative to maintain family connections and ensure that a loved one has the legal protection an adoption provides. A relative adoption offers greater security than guardianship, as it establishes permanency for the child/children.
In a second–parent adoption case, a child who already has one parent with parental rights is formally adopted by another individual. This adoption allows the second individual to assume the full legal rights and responsibilities of a parent. This process is completed by an adoption attorney. CCAI can provide a complete home study for second-parent adoption cases, required by the state’s court system.
Relinquishment in Colorado is a legal process where a child’s parents voluntarily surrender their parental rights and give another family the right to take custody of their child. Under Colorado law, a court’s approval of the relinquishment divests the parent of all custody rights.
It is a voluntary decision that requires approval through the appropriate Colorado Court. The State of Colorado requires that parents who have decided to explore relinquishment of their child to meet with a social worker through a licensed child placement agency to discuss the legal and emotional aspects of the relinquishment process. Our Relinquishment Counseling process covers the discussion of options, as well as the legal ramifications of such a decision. CCAI can provide this service on a case-by-case basis.

Absolutely. We can provide home study, relinquishment, and post adoption services to fully facilitate this plan. Some adoptive families have established a relationship with a pregnant woman who is considering adoption for her unborn child. In these cases, the prospective adoptive parents and birth parents have formed a relationship without the assistance of an agency; however, an agency or agencies are needed in order to complete the adoption.
Prospective adoptive families can work with CCAI to complete the requirements for adoption in the State of Colorado and choose an out-of-state placing agency that is responsible for the placement of the child. This agency will often provide relinquishment counseling and assist the birth parents in choosing the “right family” for their child.
GiGi Pleet joined CCAI in 2014 as our China Applications Specialist. She rejoined the team in 2022 after taking a few years off to spend time with her family. GiGi and her husband have adopted three beautiful daughters from China who are the joy and purpose of their lives. GiGi is passionate about adoption and furthering CCAI’s mission to find loving parents and permanent homes for as many children as possible and to continue reaching out to children left behind. When she is not working, you can find her spending time with her girls in the beautiful mountains of Colorado or on an adventure to a new, faraway place.

Emily was adopted through CCAI in 2002! Having always admired the ways that the organization continued to support families even after adoption, she began working at The Park last year because she wanted to be more involved in the adoption community and according to her, “It’s been a blast so far!”
Emily is majoring in environmental science at MSU Denver and hopes to help mitigate the causes and effects of climate change. In her free time, she like to practice guitar, play video games, watch movies, and spend time with her friends and family.

Ivy has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Production Design for Film and Theater with a minor in Studio Art. She had the opportunity to study abroad in London, England and Florence, Italy. After graduating, while visiting an orphanage in Kathmandu, Nepal she had a moment of realization and knew she wanted to work in the adoption community. After some prior experience in post-adoption and nonprofit management, she came to The Park and is really enjoying focusing on and being involved with offering lifelong support for adoptees and the adoption community.
Ivy was adopted from Kazakhstan at 18-months old and is proud of her adoptee identity and her adoptive family. She is passionate about sharing the stories of the amazing people in the adoption community and helping adoptees celebrate their identities. Her lifelong best friend was adopted from China through CCAI.
In her free time, she enjoys making art (she is working on a series of sculptural paintings of poached animal species), trying new food, catching up with friends, reading, and being with family. She loves to travel whenever possible.
