CCAI was invited to place children from Taiwan beginning in 2016, by our Taiwanese orphanage partner Cathwel. CCAI is known for having an extensive network of prepared adoptive families open to children’s medical and emotional needs similar to those in Taiwan, so it was a great fit! CCAI and Cathwel mutually support families through an ethical, transparent, and child-centered process. CCAI’s Taiwan program is running smoothly!

We strongly suggest that all families initially plan on two 2-week trips to Taiwan, so they are prepared for both. If a first trip is required (the decision rests with a judge who processes the adoption in court), both parents should plan to meet and spend a bonding period with the child before attending the court hearing where your request to adopt a specific child(ren) is approved.
Typically, within 2-3 months of a court-finalized adoption in Taiwan, your family will travel to Taiwan to bring home your newly adopted child. During this trip, you will spend precious time bonding with your child(ren) and obtaining the child’s U.S. visa from AIT (the American Institute in Taiwan).
Absolutely no hidden charges, no last minute surprises!

Eli is a lively and active five-year-old boy with a healthy appetite and a love for trying new foods. While he’s not afraid of strangers, he doesn’t like loud noises. Eli is very affectionate and will ask for hugs. Since Eli is on the autism spectrum, he receives a children’s day group intervention course on weekday mornings.
To ensure maximum exposure and the best advocacy for the children still waiting to find their forever families, Cathwel’s partner agencies have access to all available children’s files. In that same respect, CCAI allows multiple families to review the same child(ren) ‘s files at any time.
Typically, each agency may submit only one family for consideration of a particular child or sibling group to Cathwel. The final match determination is made by Cathwel, who selects the adoptive family they feel will best meet the child’s specific needs.
At this time, no. CCAI only works with Cathwel for the placement of Taiwanese children, and as such, all children must be in Cathwel’s care to qualify for placement with a CCAI family.
