Danni needs a forever family

Danni is a bright, thoughtful, and emotionally grounded teen who is currently thriving in a nurturing foster environment. She has built strong relationships with both her caregivers and peers and easily adjusts to new routines and expectations. Respectful, calm, and socially aware, Danni gets along well with others and responds positively to structure and guidance.

She is a motivated student who takes school seriously. Danni completes her homework, listens to her teachers, and behaves well in class. While she sometimes gets distracted by her classmates, she remains committed to doing her best, especially in subjects that challenge her. English has been her most difficult subject, but she continues to put in the effort and shows a desire to improve. Earlier in her life, Danni had to repeat some grades due to inconsistent school attendance, but she is now progressing steadily and taking pride in her accomplishments.

Developmentally, Danni is right on track. Her motor coordination is strong, her communication skills are well developed, and she processes information appropriately for her age. Socially, she interacts positively with others and has not shown any behavioral concerns. She is emotionally stable and well-regulated. Though she sometimes feels sad when thinking about her birth mother, she is learning to process those emotions with care and support.

Danni is warm, friendly, and eager to build connections. She enjoys outdoor walks, skating, spending time with friends, and has a special love for folk dancing. Danni dreams of finishing high school and pursuing a professional career. She has a strong sense of purpose and a clear vision for her future, which shines through in her discussions about her goals.

She understands what adoption means and feels calm and open about joining a new family. Danni has demonstrated maturity and openness toward all family types and is more focused on feeling loved and supported than on any specific structure.

Danni has adjusted well to her past foster placements and continues to form trusting, healthy bonds with those around her. She is respectful, responsible, and transitions smoothly into new environments. She is in good overall health and has no known medical concerns.

Danni would thrive in a family that is patient, emotionally available, and consistent, one that can support her academic growth and give her the encouragement and stability she deserves. Video calls ahead of meeting in person would help Danni build trust and connection at her own pace.

She is ready for the next chapter of her life with a family that believes in her, encourages her dreams, and gives her the sense of belonging she has been waiting for.

Emily Straut

The Park Administrative Assistant

Emily was adopted through CCAI in 2002!  Having always admired the ways that the organization continued to support families even after adoption, she began working at The Park last year because she wanted to be more involved in the adoption community and according to her, “It’s been a blast so far!”

Emily is majoring in environmental science at MSU Denver and hopes to help mitigate the causes and effects of climate change. In her free time, she like to practice guitar, play video games, watch movies, and spend time with her friends and family.

Bucket List: Visit every province in China!

Ivy Buchanan

The Park Adoptee Program Coordinator

Ivy has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Production Design for Film and Theater with a minor in Studio Art. She had the opportunity to study abroad in London, England and Florence, Italy. After graduating, while visiting an orphanage in Kathmandu, Nepal she had a moment of realization and knew she wanted to work in the adoption community. After some prior experience in post-adoption and nonprofit management, she came to The Park and is really enjoying focusing on and being involved with offering lifelong support for adoptees and the adoption community.

Ivy was adopted from Kazakhstan at 18-months old and is proud of her adoptee identity and her adoptive family. She is passionate about sharing the stories of the amazing people in the adoption community and helping adoptees celebrate their identities. Her lifelong best friend was adopted from China through CCAI.

In her free time, she enjoys making art (she is working on a series of sculptural paintings of poached animal species), trying new food, catching up with friends, reading, and being with family. She loves to travel whenever possible.
