Mia and Gianna need a forever family!

Younger sister Gianna

Gianna is a joyful and affectionate 8-year-old girl with a vibrant personality and a deep need for connection and stability. She is doing well in school and enjoys many subjects, including Art, Math, Spanish, English, Social Studies, and Technology. While still working on her multiplication tables, she approaches learning excitedly and consistently participates in class.

She is expressive, energetic, and curious, with a strong vocabulary and a love for speaking in front of others. Gianna enjoys participating in school events like dances and recitals and has positive relationships with her classmates and teachers. Since settling into her current foster home, she has made steady emotional and behavioral progress. Her early years were marked by neglect and instability, but she has grown into a cheerful, affectionate, and socially engaged child.

Gianna shares a close and loving bond with her older sister, Mia. They connect regularly through video calls and visits, which bring her happiness and anticipation. Their relationship is a source of comfort and strength in her life.

Her physical development is on track—she enjoys being active and moves with balance and coordination. Her handwriting is continuing to develop as expected. Gianna communicates clearly and easily verbally and nonverbally and enjoys participating in group and cultural activities. She adjusts well to her surroundings and puts effort into her schoolwork, especially in creative subjects. At home, she occasionally has disagreements with a younger child, usually around personal belongings, which are addressed with guidance and support.

Gianna is currently attending therapy to help process past experiences, but she does not need any additional interventions. She is a bright, affectionate child who benefits from a stable, encouraging environment. She is ready for a family who will embrace her with love, consistency, and the support she needs to continue growing.

Older sister Mia

Mia, Gianna’s older sister, is a bright, kind, and emotionally intelligent 13-year-old teenager who is also seeking a permanent and loving home. She enjoys school, especially Spanish and Art, and takes a responsible approach to her learning, even in the subjects where she faces challenges. Mia is sociable and confident, speaks fluently, and enjoys having thoughtful conversations. While she is still learning to use more assertive communication strategies, she responds well to guidance and works hard to improve her interactions.

Mia has healthy, respectful relationships with adults and peers alike. She is caring with younger children and engaging and mature in her conversations with adults. Empathetic and aware of boundaries, she interacts well with those around her and is well-integrated in her school and social environments.

She enjoys outdoor activities and has strong coordination and balance. Her development in language, academics, and emotional maturity is in line with her age, and while she currently receives support through follow-up care services, no specialized interventions are needed.

Mia is thoughtful, creative, and deeply caring. She is looking for a family who will offer her stability, love, and a safe space to continue growing. Together, Gianna and Mia are two resilient sisters who bring joy, warmth, and a deep bond that will enrich the lives of the family, ready to welcome them home.

Mia and Gianna are waiting children in our Colombia Adoption Program. To learn more about adopting these precious sisters, please email colombia@ccaifamily.org.

Emily Straut

The Park Administrative Assistant

Emily was adopted through CCAI in 2002!  Having always admired the ways that the organization continued to support families even after adoption, she began working at The Park last year because she wanted to be more involved in the adoption community and according to her, “It’s been a blast so far!”

Emily is majoring in environmental science at MSU Denver and hopes to help mitigate the causes and effects of climate change. In her free time, she like to practice guitar, play video games, watch movies, and spend time with her friends and family.

Bucket List: Visit every province in China!
