Two Bulgarian Brothers Are Looking for a Forever Family

Note: Blake and Bradley were previously referred to as Brooks and Bryson on our Waiting Child Profiles page.

Blake and Bradley are two Bulgarian brothers whose bond is as deep as it is beautiful. Living in Bulgaria, these brothers have faced more challenges than most children their age, yet they remain gentle, hopeful, and deeply connected to one another. Today, two Bulgarian brothers are looking for a forever family willing to love them unconditionally and keep them together.

Meet Blake

Blake is a sweet, gentle boy with a radiant spirit. He lives with Muscular Dystrophy, a progressive condition that affects his strength and mobility and will not improve over time. While this diagnosis shapes much of his daily life, it does not define who he is.

Recently, thanks to generous donors like CCAI supporters and the dedicated efforts of CCAI’s Bulgarian partner agency Alista, Blake has begun receiving consistent rehabilitation therapy and access to medical evaluations that are genuinely life-changing. For the first time, there is a clear plan in place to support his needs, including a specialized wheelchair with a joystick, braces, a verticalizer (stander), and the correct medication.

When Blake learned about the new wheelchair, his excitement was immediate. His current chair is uncomfortable and limiting, and this new one will allow him greater independence, comfort, and dignity. These supports won’t change his diagnosis, but they will dramatically improve his quality of life.

During a recent rehabilitation session, Blake chatted easily with his physical therapist about soccer, shared jokes, and laughed freely. His joy is contagious. In a video from that session, Blake shared his dream to feel healthy and strong again. Those words came straight from his heart. Even knowing his condition will not improve, Blake continues to live with hope, courage, and a quiet strength that inspires everyone around him.

Bradley: A Big Brother Carrying Too Much Responsibility

Bradley, Blake’s older brother, is knowledgeable, perceptive, and emotionally aware. He understands Blake’s medical condition in a way no child should have to. In many ways, Bradley has taken on the role of protector, advocate, and caregiver.

When the brothers are together, Bradley often feels torn between simply being a big brother and stepping into a caretaker role. Beneath his maturity and strength is still a child who longs to be seen, cherished, and allowed just to be a kid again.

Bradley also understands, heartbreakingly, that Blake’s medical needs may make it harder for them to find a permanent family. That awareness weighs heavily on him. In many ways, he has become the “man” of their small family, feeling responsible for holding everything together. Still, what he wants most is simple: a family that will choose both of them and love them completely.

An Unbreakable Bond

Blake absolutely adores his big brother. Bradley is his safe place, his source of confidence, and his emotional anchor. Their bond is not just meaningful; it is essential to Blake’s emotional well-being and stability.

Right now, two Bulgarian brothers are looking for a forever family who will keep them together, honor their connection, and provide the love and support they both deserve. Separating them would mean losing the one constant each has had in an uncertain world.

Why Time Is Critical

We have approximately one month to identify a family willing and able to adopt both brothers together. If a family cannot be found for them as a sibling group, there is a very real risk that they may be separated.

Finding families for siblings is already challenging. Finding a family for siblings when one child has significant medical needs is even harder. But Blake and Bradley are worth the extra effort, advocacy, and hope. Their future depends on it.

Why Blake Needs a Different Environment

Unfortunately, Blake’s current placement is not appropriate for his needs. He does not have access to daily physiotherapy or consistent specialized support, both of which are critical for managing Muscular Dystrophy. He is also placed in an environment designed for children with moderate to severe special needs, which does not reflect his preserved cognitive abilities or provide the stimulation he needs to thrive.

This setting is simply not in Blake’s best interest, and change is urgently needed.

A Hope We All Share

Blake and Bradley are incredibly brave. Despite everything they have endured, they continue to hope for a family who will love them unconditionally, advocate fiercely for Blake’s medical care, and give Bradley the chance to finally lay down the heavy responsibilities he has carried for far too long.

Two Bulgarian brothers are looking for a forever family. One that will keep them together. One that will see their strength, their tenderness, and their deep love for one another. One that will give them the safety, stability, and belonging every child deserves.

Emily Straut

The Park Administrative Assistant

Emily was adopted through CCAI in 2002!  Having always admired the ways that the organization continued to support families even after adoption, she began working at The Park last year because she wanted to be more involved in the adoption community and according to her, “It’s been a blast so far!”

Emily is majoring in environmental science at MSU Denver and hopes to help mitigate the causes and effects of climate change. In her free time, she like to practice guitar, play video games, watch movies, and spend time with her friends and family.

Bucket List: Visit every province in China!
