CCAI’s Taiwan adoption program began in 2016 when our Taiwanese orphanage partner Cathwel invited CCAI to join efforts in finding loving families for Taiwan’s most vulnerable children.
CCAI is known for having an extensive network of prepared adoptive families open to children’s medical and emotional needs, so it was a great fit!
CCAI and Cathwel mutually support families through an ethical, transparent, and child-centered process. CCAI’s Taiwan program is running smoothly!

Post Adoption Services and Adoption Validation
The orphanage requires 9 reports over seven years. The 3 to 12 month reports must be completed by the home study agency while the remaining reports are self-reported by the adoptive family.
Successful completion of 12+ parent training hours which meets the requirements of the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption and CCAI. All Parent Training is covered in CCAI fees.
We strongly suggest that all families initially plan on two 2-week trips to Taiwan, so they are prepared for both. If a first trip is required (the decision rests with a judge who processes the adoption in court), both parents should plan to meet and spend a bonding period with the child before attending the court hearing where your request to adopt a specific child(ren) is approved.
Typically, within 2-3 months of a court-finalized adoption in Taiwan, your family will travel to Taiwan to bring home your newly adopted child. During this trip, you will spend precious time bonding with your child(ren) and obtaining the child’s U.S. visa from AIT (the American Institute in Taiwan).
