Miles and Gordon need a loving family

Miles and Gordon stay positive, with a desire to learn and grow despite their complicated past. Both brothers dream of being adopted and having a family—could it be YOU?

Miles

11-year-old Miles’s biggest dream is to have a loving family! He’s a bright boy living in Bulgaria with a vibrant vocabulary. Miles uses many words, even complicated ones, and makes complex sentences. He can explain an idea and give facts that prove it or support it.

Miles has some physical disabilities that make it slightly more difficult for him to walk and catch things. Despite that, he is very mobile and can do many activities because he is hardworking and does not give up easily. For instance, Miles can walk, run, and participate in some sports. His fine motor skills have improved—he can write and draw! Miles may need more surgeries to improve his physical mobility and activity, and at this point, he is using special orthopedic shoes for walking.

Miles does very well in school. His favorite subjects are Russian, English, and Math. He really has a talent for languages! His favorite activities include playing soccer. Like his brother, Miles loves animals.

Gordon

With his brother Miles, 10-year-old Gordon’s biggest dream is to have parents! Gordon is physically healthy and intelligent, with a rich vocabulary. His motor skills are great- including running, climbing, kicking, and throwing. He is physically active and has well-developed balance abilities. He knows how to establish social contact and seeks out close relationships and hugs.

Gordon does very well academically; his favorite subjects are English, Math, and Bulgarian. He has many friends and enjoys going to school. Gordon loves to play soccer—it’s his favorite. In addition, he enjoys riding a bike, playing basketball and volleyball, and watching TV. He has a phone and plays on it from time to time.

In 2015, CCAI initiated its adoption program in Bulgaria, marking the beginning of a journey that has seen steady growth ever since. Similar to many intercountry adoption initiatives today, the Bulgarian program primarily focuses on placing older children, those with specific medical needs, and sibling groups. The demand is particularly high for families willing to embrace children aged 8 and above, as well as those with medical conditions. Remarkably, families open to adopting children with Down syndrome often find matches within a short span of 3 to 6 months after submitting their dossier.

CCAI is dedicated to equipping prospective parents with the necessary resources to effectively embrace a special child into their lives and homes. The Bulgaria program continues to thrive, and CCAI warmly extends an invitation to families to explore profiles of some of the many children eagerly awaiting their forever families.

Emily Straut

The Park Administrative Assistant

Emily was adopted through CCAI in 2002!  Having always admired the ways that the organization continued to support families even after adoption, she began working at The Park last year because she wanted to be more involved in the adoption community and according to her, “It’s been a blast so far!”

Emily is majoring in environmental science at MSU Denver and hopes to help mitigate the causes and effects of climate change. In her free time, she like to practice guitar, play video games, watch movies, and spend time with her friends and family.

Bucket List: Visit every province in China!

Ivy Buchanan

The Park Adoptee Program Coordinator

Ivy has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Production Design for Film and Theater with a minor in Studio Art. She had the opportunity to study abroad in London, England and Florence, Italy. After graduating, while visiting an orphanage in Kathmandu, Nepal she had a moment of realization and knew she wanted to work in the adoption community. After some prior experience in post-adoption and nonprofit management, she came to The Park and is really enjoying focusing on and being involved with offering lifelong support for adoptees and the adoption community.

Ivy was adopted from Kazakhstan at 18-months old and is proud of her adoptee identity and her adoptive family. She is passionate about sharing the stories of the amazing people in the adoption community and helping adoptees celebrate their identities. Her lifelong best friend was adopted from China through CCAI.

In her free time, she enjoys making art (she is working on a series of sculptural paintings of poached animal species), trying new food, catching up with friends, reading, and being with family. She loves to travel whenever possible.
